WE DELIVERED BEST CULTURAL DAY IN NIJ HISTORY, SAYS SRC
Emmanuel Ashemiriogwa, the member of the Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ) Students’ Representative Council (SRC), has described the 2025 Students’ Week as best in history.
The six-day event began on July 7 and ended on July 12 hosting different activities like Career Day, Sports Day, NIJ’s Got Talent, Pageantry, and Cultutral Day.
Ashemiriogwa, who was the chairman planning committee of the Career Day, described the Cultural Day, tagged Ojude NIJ, as the best in the school so far.
The final year student said there were a high expections from the public on the day and “we delivered the best”.
“Each day was a success in its own right. However, particularly is the OJUDE NIJ. Expectations were high for this event and it's safe to say we delivered the best cultural day of the student week yet. The reviews have been nothing short of Amazing. The Career and Dinner Night are also days that have attracted more glowing reviews due to their success,” he said.
Also speaking, Ifeoluwa Opatola, the SRC president, said the theme of the Students’ Week was symbolic.
She described it as a new era of media professionals whose reality have now been redefined by social media, AI, digital content creation.
She added that the theme was to bridge of the traditional media divide.
“The theme "Wave '25" was chosen by the planning committee. It's symbolic. Wave in this context represent a new era of media professionals whose reality have now been redefined by social media, AI, digital content creation, and bridging of the traditional media divide. These reality, this wave, has redefined what we once knew as a career. So the theme was chosen to echo this reality through the various events,” she said.
Opatola also urged the next set to ensure that they do better than the current administration.
